The physician clinics at McPherson Center for Health, McPherson Medical and Surgical Associates (MMSA), has received allotments of both Pfizer and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine and will be vaccinating any MMSA patient who is 65 or older on Saturday, March 6  by appointment only.  For an appointment, please call (620)241-7400 to schedule before 5:00 p.m. today (3/5/21). Please call even if you are already on the waitlist. Appointments will be set as long as supplies last. Again, this is only for patients of the physician clinics at McPherson Center for Health.

TOPEKA – Wednesday night, Governor Laura Kelly signed a bill to protect Kansas cities from potential price surges in electricity bills caused by extremely cold temperatures in February. Senate Bill 88 establishes a $100 million low-interest loan program for municipal utilities facing high utility bills after last month’s frigid temperatures. “This loan program was absolutely necessary for our cities to manage the surging utility costs,” Governor Kelly said. “It gives cities the immediate relief they need to avoid dire financial decisions while we pursue other, long-term solutions.” The bill details that the loan program will be administered by the Kansas State Treasurer’s Office using Pooled Money Investment

TOPEKA – Eight new cases of the United Kingdom, or UK, variant known as B.1.1.7, have been identified in Sedgwick County. These cases were identified in individuals all living in the same household and do not appear to be connected to earlier cases in Kansas. A case investigation is being conducted and close contacts notified. Further details concerning the patients, including demographics, will not be released. The total of UK identified variants in Kansas is now at 10. The first case was identified in February in Ellis County, followed by a second case in Sedgwick County. The initial two cases

TOPEKA – Today, Governor Laura Kelly encouraged Kansans to apply for funds available through the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) to help pay high electricity bills caused by extremely cold temperatures.
