Quincy’s Corner: Picks of the Week

Gambling Notes: Talk to any gambling “Expert” and they’ll tell you that a parlay is a sucker’s bet. A parlay bet is when you combine 2 or more bets into one bet. Each bet within the parlay must win in order for the parlay to win. If any bet within the parlay loses, the bet loses. However, this increases the odds astronomically and increases your payoff as well. Last weekend I decided to put some action on some college football games. College football is more predictable, especially in the early weeks, so it’s a good time to throw some money on Alabama covering 38 points at home. I took, Ohio State covering 38 ½ against Miami, Alabama covering 38 against Southern Miss, Michigan State covering 7 ½ against Northwestern and Wisconsin covering 3 against Michigan. Long story short, it hit, and I had some extra cash to throw on the Sunday slate of NFL games. Now, having established my gambling credentials, I’ll give you the games that I’ve got my eye on this weekend.

(Home team in CAPS, Picks highlighted)

Cleveland Browns at BALTIMORE RAVENS (-7)

Oakland Raiders at INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (-7)

Kansas City Chiefs at DETROIT LIONS (+7)

Dallas Cowboys at NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (+3)

I like the Ravens laying 7 at home and demolishing the Browns. I think Lamar Jackson has a bounce-back game and dissects an ailing Browns secondary. Ditto with the Colts, this is a tough team, the Raiders haven’t shown anything this season except reasons to avoid watching their games. I LOVE the Chiefs laying seven points against the Lions in Detroit. Detroit cannot score with the Chiefs and their defense can’t stop the Chiefs offense. Chiefs cover, easy. The Cowboys have started the season like gangbusters and I like them to continue that this week, winning by at least four against the overmatched Bridgewater.
