If your looking for something to do Saturday, Oct. 26, put on a costume with your dancing shoes and head over the McPherson American Legion Post 24, 401 N. Main St. Once again the members and volunteers are gearing up for the Halloween party that they have hosted for 35 years.
“I cannot remember a year we didn’t have a dance and a costume contest,” McPherson Legion Commander Jim LaDuke said.
A $8 cover is being charged, but the entirety of the those proceeds will go to the entertainment, the band Artifact, has become a Legion favorite.
“We always have one of the area best live band and this year is no exception,” LaDuke said. “Artifact has played several times and they are also scheduled to do our New Year’s Eve dance.”
As usual, there will be a costume contest. The charge is $2 to enter and the judging will occur at midnight. Music begins at 9 p.m.
“The Legion needs events like these that enables us to have a nice bar for the evening,” LaDuke explained. “We need events like these to help us pay our never ending bills at the Legion.”
This is an event that is open to the public, so no need to have a membership, though they would love it if you did. Numerous opportunities are available for membership. Legion membership requirements have recently changed and the McPherson Legion offers its own special social membership for folks to enjoy Post 24 events when they don’t qualify for other membership.
“Come up and enjoy a nice party,” LaDuke said. “If you are not a legion member, we invite you to join in one of our four categories that are available.”
