McPherson businesses are gearing up for the holiday season this weekend. McPherson Main Street and the McPherson Chamber of Commerce are kicking things off with the Holiday Open House Weekend! Promotion, starting Friday and going through the weekend. Businesses will be showing off their goodies and wares. In addition, the promotion kick starts the Candy Cane Cash program.

“Candy Cane Cash is a shoppers reward program that was created to offer an incentive to encourage shopping at our local Chamber and Main Street member businesses,” McPherson Main Street Executive Director Ann Engel said. “For every $10 spent in a participating store, shoppers will get a punch on their entry slip. Each time you have five punches, you fill out the slip and put it in one of the 29 location boxes.”

From Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, you can enter to win $500 or even $1,000 Candy Cane Cash certificates that can be spent just like cash in any of the participating stores. Just by supporting local businesses, folks have a chance to win big. Special double and triple events will also occur throughout the coming months. The prize winners will be drawn on Jan. 10, 2020.

“This promotion allows us to see where people come from and where we might need to increase our advertising dollars, while we promote our local products and services,” Engel said. “We can also see what is spent based on the number of registrations. Last year was our biggest year yet, with 11,507 completed registrations representing 128 towns in Kansas and cities in 18 other states.”
