McPherson Buzz ribbon cutting Nov. 8

The McPherson Buzz will celebrate their startup at 4 p.m. with a McPherson Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting ceremony. The public is invited to attend the ceremony at the Warren Place, 121 W. Marlin St. on the fourth floor.

“McPherson needs a dependable source of news,” Owner and Publisher Jennifer Flood said. “We want to build a media outlet that the community trusts and we are off to an amazing start.”

McPherson Buzz is an independently owned online publication, dedicated to authentic and free news. The staff value the community they serve and are looking forward to building long-lasting relationships with residents and businesses in McPherson.

“We’ve brought on writers and staff who are dedicated to the independent journalism we are producing,” Flood said. “This is our chance to provide a much-needed service to McPherson.”

The staff includes Client Services Manager Nikki Allenbach, who was born in McPherson and worked for USD 418 for eight years. She has two children and lives in Lyons.

Director of Digital Marketing, Tyler Bruton, a McPherson College graduate of the class of 2014, built and designed the website while taking care of any site updates and add-ons. He lives in Wichita.

Director of Client Services Amber Brown, lives and Inman with her husband Jon. Amber has five children, three still in the home. In addition to her immeasurable contributions to The Buzz, she owns Secure Gates LLC and is one of six owners of 365 Sports Complex in Inman.

Sportswriter Quincy Williams hails from Cincinnati. He is a junior at McPherson College where he is majoring in English.

Photographer Jeff Wilson is the owner and service manager of McPherson Quality air. He lives in McPherson with his wife Sara.

Managing Editor Teri Hansen, lives in Salina and is originally from Roxbury. She was the editor of the McPherson Sentinel for nearly six years.

“This group represents the variety of great people we have in McPherson, who bring innovative ideas to the table,” Flood said. “We are looking forward to growing and this ceremony is the first step in that expansion.”
