Bullpup Domination

The McPherson Bullpups Football team dominated the Abilene Cowboys Friday night, winning 63-7. This was as lopsided a match-up as you’re likely to see in the Class 4A state tournament. The Bullpups move on to face Goddard next week in the Round of 16.

The Bullpups dominated all phases of the game. The running game was in high gear; they ran 24 times for 193 yards. Senior Jakob Feil had eight totes for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Jonah Clark, Kaleb Hoppes, Aiden Hoover, and Matt Ramey all scored touchdowns in the first half. The score was 49-0 at halftime.

As the third quarter started, so too did the running clock. Senior Cody Stufflebean, who had been out the past two games, was back tonight and blocked a punt that led to a McPherson touchdown.

The Cowboys simply couldn’t move the ball against this vaunted McPherson defense. The Bulldogs are back in action next Friday at McPherson Stadium against Goddard at 7:00 pm.
