Bullpups Face Stiff Test in Varsity Quarterfinals

The McPherson Bullpups play the Goddard Eisenhower Tigers this Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Eisenhower.

The Bullpups are fresh off an exhilarating win over Emporia last Thursday. Head coach Chris Adrian said after last week’s game “This team has proven that they’re one of the top teams and I don’t think anyone wants to play us right now.”. Coach Adrian is definitely correct in saying that McPherson is a formidable team. Before last week’s game, there weren’t many predicting a Bullpup win because of Emporia’s fearsome top-rated offense. The Bullpups persevered, however, and kept Emporia’s attack manacled.

There is no rest for the weary, though, as the Bullpups will have to contend with Eisenhower’s second-ranked offense on Tuesday. They didn’t suffer a loss the season, with a record of 17-0-1.  Eisenhower scored 102 goals on the season (two less than Emporia), but they also only allowed 20 goals all season. The only teams to allow fewer goals this season are Mcpherson and Andover with 19 and 10 respectively.  This will be the first matchup of the season between the two teams.

The Bullpups have found ways to win all season. I believe they get it done on Tuesday night, in no small part due to tough senior leadership.
