Bulldogs Lose First Game to Central Christian

Article by Jeremy Nelson McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College men’s basketball team dropped a seven-point decision to crosstown rival Central Christian College on Wednesday night in the second annual Mayor’s Cup, played in the “Round House” at McPherson High School. The Tigers jumped out on top of the Bulldogs early, leading by as many as ten points late in the opening half. Bulldog Women Win Second Annual Mayor’s Cup

Article by Jeremy Nelson McPherson, Kan. – The McPherson College women’s basketball team retained the “Mayor’s Cup” defeating their crosstown rival the Central Christian College Tigers 76-65 at the McPherson High School Round House. Both teams seemed really juiced up at the start, and the game was played at a frenetic pace. Letter to the Editor: Lara Vanderhoof

First, I want to thank the USD No. 418 Community for your support during the 2019 General Election. Secondly, I want to encourage each of you to become or continue to be actively involved in our great community. I believe that becoming educated on the needs and advocating for solutions will continue to strengthen this community. Be encouraged that your voice matters. I still will advocate for accountability with our school district and pay particular interest to the curriculum implementation, superintendent search, the fiscal decisions, and facilities needs. Again, I highly recommend that the current and incoming school board consider creating a long-range strategic plan that includes goals, tasks, deadlines, anticipated outcomes, resources needed, and regular feedback loops to keep all stakeholders informed.

McPherson Bullpups Square off Against the Goddard Lions

The McPherson Bullpups football team (9-0) will contend with the Goddard Lions (4-5) in the second round of the 4A Regional finals at McPherson Stadium at 7:00 P.M. on Friday. The Bullpups won 63-7 against Abilene in the first round, Goddard beat Rose Hill 32-14. The two teams have only played one common opponent, Rose Hill, who the Bullpups beat 31-7. That being said, Goddard is 4-5 for a reason. They have been inconsistent, other than a five-game losing streak in which they were consistently bad.
