The McPherson Middle School Lady Bullpups were victorious in their season opener against Sunrise Christian, winning 48-21. The A and B teams played together in this first game as Sunrise only had 6 players.

Karter Alvord led the team in scoring with 14 points, Kaya Lowery also had a strong showing scoring 8. Coach T.J. Jackson said after the game, “This was a great start for our ladies. We got to play against a couple very talented athletes and it showed us we need to be faster in our help defense. They were not as well rounded, so we will need to play more quickly on defense, but tonight we adjusted well and really made it hard for them to score as the game went along.”

The Lady Bullpups play an away game tonight against Newton at 5. Coach Jackson on what he’s looking for tonight, “Offensively I would love to see a couple more girls be aggressive to the hoop. We have a very athletic group and if they drive to the hoop I am betting on them winning those battles more often than not. We hesitated in some places, but first game feelings will be smoothed out as we play more. I am excited to see how quickly we learned from today.”
