A vehicle wreck involving an SUV and a truck carrying anhydrous ammonia closed down traffic on U.S. Highway 81 and Avenue A for approximately 40 minutes this afternoon around 1:30 p.m. The vehicle collided with the truck carrying the anhydrous ammonia.
“McPherson Fire Department received a call for service for a Motor Vehicle Accident with hazardous material involved. Fire/Rescue and Hazardous Material team responded to the location,” McPherson Fire Department Chief TJ Wyssmann said. “No damage was done to the vessels however, a small amount of hazardous material was spilled from the vehicle, due to the collision.”
Traffic was rerouted and then delayed at the Kansas Avenue and Highway 81 intersection and the Avenue A and Highway 81 intersection. McPherson Police, McPherson Fire Department and McPherson Emergency Services personnel responded to the scene.
“One patient was transported by McPherson EMS and McPherson Police Department is investigating the collision,” Wyssmann said.
