Congressman Roger Marshall is pleased to announce the nominations for the U.S. Military Service Academies.
A total of eight students from the First Congressional District participated in the final interview process, and all eight earned nominations for at least one service academy.
“It’s a privilege and honor to nominate these young men and women to our nation’s esteemed military service academies,” Marshall said. “Their dedication and commitment to leadership, service, and duty is inspiring and represents the best of the next generation.”
For U.S. Military Academy in the McPherson area, Jessica Kelling received a nomination. Jessica Kelling is the daughter of Brian and Nadine Kelling and currently attends McPherson High School.
To be nominated, applicants must meet the recommendations and standards set by each academy, complete online applications and interview with at least one Member of Congress or Senate.
All applicants were interviewed by the following panelists: Buzz Bruzina, Junction City; Tyler Mason, Salina; Jean Clifford, Garden City; and Seth Kastle, Ed D., Wakeeney.
Nominations were submitted to the academies for final consideration. Students will learn if they receive an appointment from one or more of the academies in early 2020.
