Dec. 4

Applied Lesson Recital – 4 p.m. on the campus of Central Christian College, 1200 S. Main in Greer Auditorium.

Cookies with Santa – 5-6:30 p.m. at Stupka Chiropractic, 114 W. Euclid. Part of the McPherson Chamber and McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion.

Storytime on the Trolley – 5:30, 6, 6:30, & 7 p.m. Trolley ride, story, cookie and special surprise. Trolley boards at the McPherson Public Library, 214 W. Marlin. Limited seating available. 41st Annual Community Christmas Carol-Along – 6-8 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. FREE “come & go” family event, with a variety of local musical groups caroling, AND a visit from Santa! Sponsored by Home State Bank.

McPherson High Basketball Trivia Night – 6:30-8:30 p.m. McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas Ave. Calling all BULLPUP FANS! Kick-off the season with trivia @ the Museum. $20 per team. 10 team limit / 4 members per team. Prizes, Refreshments, & Cash Bar. RSVP@ 620-241-8464.

A Jazzy Christmas – 7 p.m. on the campus of Central Christian College at The Warehouse, 107 E. Ave. E. Come enjoy Central Christian College’s Jazz Band as they perform a number of Christmas arrangements. This event is free and open to the public.

Community Brass – 7 p.m. at The Cedars Wellness Center, 1021 Cedars Drive. Enjoy some great Christmas music. A great opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit! The public is invited to attend.

Dec. 6

First Friday MC at The Cedars – 3 p.m. The Cedars Wellness Center, 1021 Cedars Drive. Guest speaker Dr. Ricardo Rodriguez will speak on “Black Hole Pictures: What are we looking at?”

Friday Food – 6 p.m. at the McPherson American Legion Post 24, 401 N. Main. $8 Chicken and noodle dinner.

Dec. 7

shallow-focus-photography-of-string-lights-754263Main Street Mini-Main – 10 a.m.-1 p.m. McPherson American Legion, 401 N. Main. A children’s shopping experience for Pre-K – 5th Grade. Elves help kids shop. All items $10 and under. Free gift wrapping, cookies, crafts and a visit from Santa. Volunteers always needed. A McPherson Main Street Promotion.

Holiday Open House – 1-4 p.m., McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas Ave. Free admission to the Museum. Enjoy refreshments, live music, and decorate a Gingerbread House provided by Walgreens. FREE gingerbread house kits will be given to the first 100 families. Compliments of the McPherson CVB. Gingerbread houses must be assembled on site. Participants can the enter the gingerbread house making contest with the chance to win gift cards from Walgreens!

German Dinner & Bake Sale – 5-7 p.m. at the First Mennonite Church of McPherson, 1161 E. Avenue A. Enjoy verenika with ham gravy, sausage, green beans, homemade sauerkraut, zweiback, and cherry moos. Free will donation for dinner, baked goods are priced.

Fall Showcase – 7-8:30 p.m. at Journey Mennonite Church, 201 E. Euclid, hosted by Arts After School. Join in the jam as the Music kids rock out and enjoy a window into the artistic minds of the Drawing students.

Sandi Patty – 7:30 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. Sandi Patty, simply known as “The Voice,” is the most awarded female vocalist in contemporary Christian music history. Tickets can be purchased on the Opera House website at http://www.mcphersonoperahouse.org.

Free Movie: “Smallfoot” – Part of the McPherson Chamber & McPherson Main Street Holiday Promotion. Movie will start at 3 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. We appreciate all our movie sponsors.

“Men in Harmony” – 7 p.m. at The Cedars Wellness Center, 1021 Cedars Drive. It’s beginning to sound a lot like Christmas! Come to the Wellness Center for an evening of fun and good music when the “Men in Harmony,” a barbershop group, sings Christmas music.

“Into the Stillness” – 3 p.m. at The Cedars Wellness Center, 1021 Cedars Drive. Author Jackie Magnuson Ash will read from her book “Into the Stillness,” a collection of poems and short prose that tell her story of marriage, family, and farming in the middle of Kansas.

Friday Food – 6 p.m. at the McPherson American Legion Post 24, 401 N. Main. $8 soup dinner.

Dec. 13-14

“A Christmas Carol” – 7 p.m. both nights at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. Presented by the McPherson High School, with performances and contributions by McPherson High School Choir, Orchestra and Band, and Art departments. “All is Calm” – 7:30 p.m. at the McPherson Opera House, 219 S. Main. Presented by the Wichita Grand Opera. A touching musical tribute to the brief time when peace on Earth reigned over desolate battlefields during a legendary World War I incident which occurred Christmas Eve in 1914. Tickets can be purchased on the Opera House website at www.mcphersonoperahouse.org.
