The 8th-Grade Ladies A-team is off to a fantastic start. They won their fifth game in a row against Manhattan Christian Tuesday night, 50-10. Karter Alvord again led the team in scoring with 16, Kaya Lowery and Madi Moors both chipped in eight. In a game like this, it is clear who the better team is from the outset, yet Coach T.J. Jackson still says his team can improve, “Manhattan is down athletes and we are very good, but we also let them do some things to us at times when we were lazy with some passes and lazy with our defense. We have to understand that games like are just like any other and we can’t allow ourselves to develop bad habits just because we know we are going to win. “. Another key performance from Tuesday’s game was Jayla McLeod who had six. The balanced scoring filtered all throughout the roster.
The 8th-Grade Ladies B-team was also in action versus Manhattan Christian’s B-team last night. They also won 20-16. In contrast to the A-game, this was a defensive battle. The score went back and forth and it took tremendous commitment to win this game. Coach Wingert praised her team after the game, “The girls fought hard tonight, and came away with a victory. Each team member played almost the whole game, with little or no subs. This is tough to do against any team, and the girls did a great job of hustling and playing good defense.”. Kyndall Sandbo scored 13 points for this team tonight and looked like the best player on the floor.
Both teams will next play at Salina Lakewood at 5 PM on Thursday. They look to carry the winning momentum onward.
