Bullpup Wrestlers Off To Dominating Start After Win At El Dorado
EL DORADO – Doug Kretzer couldn’t ask for a better start for his McPherson High School boys wrestling team than Thursday night as the Bullpups dominated El Dorado High School, 56-17, with five matches ending by pins and three by forfeits.
After the first two forfeits, Lorenzo Cruzen set the bar with a 17-3 win. The highlight of the night was Jonah Clarke topping Kai Wernli 16-6 in the 170-pound weight class. Prior to it, the Bullpups already had the 40-point edge. Gavin Richardson, Collin Pearson, Landon Crews, Rhett Edmonson and Mason Thrash each won by fall.
“Team wrestled great with most of our kids getting wins,” Kretzer said. “Big win for Jonah Clarke. Proud of Richardson and Landrum who wrestled their first-ever varsity match, but did great. Looking forward to Saturday to get lots of matches. We will have 34 wrestlers on the mat. Hope to see the community stop in and watch.”
The McPherson Invitational for the girls will be on Saturday at 9 a.m.
