The McPherson Buzz will be starting its first-ever player of the week, where each week we recognize McPherson’s top performer after sporting events. We will consider each kid from high school level, middle school, little league or recreational league.

Today’s player of the week goes to Grace Pyle of the McPherson High School girls basketball team. Pyle may have not been the leading scorer for the Bullpups, but the junior was everywhere in the stat sheet after McPherson’s 62-20 win over Andover High School last Friday. Pyle was only two assists shy of reaching her first triple-double in her varsity career. She finished the night with 13 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists. Pyle was also effective on the defensive end as she recorded three blocks and two steals.

” I think we had a lot people stepped up and we’re going to continue to step up and exceed expectations because that’s what we want to do,” Pyle said. “We want to prove everyone wrong and everyone has a big role to fill this year and we all realized that.”

The Bullpups (1-0) will take on Andover Central High School on the road on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
