Bullpup Swimmers took second in invitational at Topeka

Sports Editor, Peter Holland Jr. TOPEKA— The McPherson High School boys swim team took 12 to the Topeka-Capitol Federal Natatorium for an invitational on Tuesday, and with those dozen swimmers, McPherson put up a total of 400 points, placing second behind Class 6A State Champs, Blue Valley West High School. It was a record-breaking day for Will Powers as he broke a 10-year-old school record in the 100 breaststroke with a time 1:02:42. Obituary: Rebecca Ellen Rothrock

Rebecca Ellen Rothrock was born in Davenport, Iowa, to Robert and Minnie Ethel (Long) Spear on December 7, 1926.  She was one of three children born to this union, two sons and one daughter, Virgil, Wilmer also known as “Willie” and Rebecca.  The family moved soon after her birth to Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she attended the elementary schools and graduated from High School.  She then attended and graduated from McPherson College in 1948 with a degree in Home Economics.

Bullpups Stun Top-Ranked Andover Central

The Bullpups stunned Andover Central  52-47, bouncing back after an 0-1 start and completing an Andover Central sweep after the girls took care of business early on.
