Obituary: Eleanor Elaine Dossett

Eleanor Elaine Dossett, 78, of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at Pleasant View Home, Inman, KS.  In her earlier years, Eleanor worked for Farmers Alliance Insurance in the underwriting department.  When her children were young, she stayed at home with them until they reached school age.  She then worked as the early morning cook for Memorial Hospital for approximately 12 years and later as a cook at The Cedars for 14 years.

John George Arpad, 74, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away at 2:45 a.m., Wednesday, December 18th, 2019 while in the company of family members at Pine Village. John was born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on March 7, 1945, a son of John A. and Veronica (Sippos)  Arpad. John attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and graduated from St. Peter High School, New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1963. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, McPherson. Female Veterans Speak At American Legion

McPherson Buzz Owner Jennifer Flood  On Tuesday night, the crowd at the McPherson American Legion gathered to hear from two female Vietnam veterans, Kathy Nicholson and Sheryl White. This was the first all-female Veterans Story Night. The only other female to speak at the Legion was Teri Hansen in May of 2019.  Per usual, Dan Hervey greeted the crowd before the two women took the spotlight to share their experiences. Tigers split with SCU

BETHANY, OKLA. — The Central Christian College basketball team traveled to Bethany, Oklahoma to face Southwestern Christian University on Tuesday. The Men’s team was victorious, defeating the Eagles 75-70, but the Women’s team was not so successful as the fall to Southwestern College 84-78. CCC men dominated the Eagles in the first half as they 41-28 at halftime. TJ Williams was the Tigers top performer as he led with 21 points Nic Mitchell and Isaiah Rivera also reached double figures with 11 points and 12 points.
