Player Of The Week: Jonah Clarke

Today’s player of the week goes to Jonah Clarke of the McPherson High School wrestling after his performance at the Abilene Invitational this past weekend.

Clarke, a senior, led the Bullpups by winning all five rounds, which advanced him to the championship round, where we won by fall over Noah Ackerman of Marysville High School. The Bullpups won the Abilene Invitational with a total of 252 points. Clarke recorded 34.5 of those points. Clarke is 16-0 this season at 170 pounds, being one of the remaining undefeated Bullpup who is ranked in the top three in Class 5A.

Prior to the tournament, Clarke also led the Bullpups to a 55-18 win over Augusta High School, giving them their second league win on the year. The Bullpups are 11-1 this season.

Round 2 – Won by fall over Caleb Vandegrift (Scott City) 8-5 (Fall 2:50)
Round 4 – Won by fall over Brooks Burgoon (Salina-Central) 7-6 (Fall 1:00)
Round 5 – Won by tech fall over Hunter Parish (Basehor-Linwood) 10-6 (TF-1.5 3:59 (17-1))
1st Place Match – Won by fall over Noah Ackerman (Marysville) 11-1 (Fall 4:24)
