Velma L. Buehler, 95, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019, surrounded by family at Hospice House, Hutchinson. She was retired from the NCRA Refinery where she had worked as a clerk typist.
Velma was born on Nov. 19, 1924, in McPherson, the daughter of Lyndell W. and Ina J. (Slabach) McDonald. She graduated from McPherson High School in 1942 and attended Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia. Velma was united in marriage to George Buehler on Nov. 9, 1952, in McPherson. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1974.
She was a member of the First Christian Church and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include: daughter, Suzanne Prickett (Mike) of Hutchinson; son, Mark Buehler (Donna) of Hutchinson; sister, Maryanne Webb of McPherson; brothers, Lyndell McDonald of Wichita, and Robert McDonald of Wichita; six grandchildren, Chris Evans, Camille Eckhoff, Clayton Evans, Tina Morris, Harold Jones, III, and Thomas Jones; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Wayne McDonald and Clarence McDonald.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, at Stockham Family Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Lynn Scott officiating. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery.
