OKLAHOMA CITY, OK.— The Central Christian College basketball team is still in search of its first conference win as the Tigers fall to Oklahoma City University on the road.
The Central women struggled with shooting in their 75-59 loss to OCU. The Stars are ranked No. 5 in NAIA and they showed it on Saturday. OCU shot 54 percent from the field, while Central only shot 32.4 percent. OCU outscored the Tigers 23-7 by the end of the first quarter. Three Tigers were able to finish in double figures. Zenith Hernandez led with 14 points and eight rebounds. Kassidy Forsberg dropped 13 points and Cheyenne Marshall had 10. The Tigers fall to 3-8 (0-4 in SAC) on the season.
On the Men’s side, the Tigers went into overtime with the Stars but fell short in their 83-79 loss. After trailing 17-10 earlier in the first half, the Tigers found their offensive rhythm and kept exchanging buckets and only trailed as low as five points. The Tigers were able to tie it up at 57 then eventually ended the regulation at 70.
The Stars went on a 7-0 run to start overtime. CCC trailed 79-76 with 42 seconds left but OCU had the edge, outscoring them 13-9. Three Tigers reached double figures. Ben Glover led the Tigers with 23 points. Isaiah Rivers finished with 14 points and Bengi Diatta had 13. The Tigers fall to 7-5 (0-4 in SAC).
Central Christian will return home to host Langston University on Tuesday.
