Great Conversations with TED at the Public Library 

The McPherson Public Library is introducing a new initiative, called TED Circles, which is designed to encourage small group conversations about a variety of topics.  The library has been designated as an approved TED Circles site, with Shannon Brake as the Circle host.  Each TED Circle is unique and all are virtually connected through the TED Circles platform – making it possible for local conversations to reach a global scale. The January session will be held on Jan. 20 from noon to 1 p.m.  The theme for January is: The Future.

Player of the Week: Madi Moors

  Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. When Madi Moors is wide open, chances are, it’s going in.  In last Thursday’s win over Salina South Middle School, Moors led the eighth-grade A-team of the McPherson Middle School girls basketball team with 15 points, a season-high, for the eighth-grader. Today she is our Player of the Week, presented by the National Compliance Group. Moors was the A-team’s hot shooter as she made four of McPherson’s six three-pointers over Salina South. Thrash Gets Ready For All-Star Game

Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. ATLANTA, GA. — Before everyone gets ready for the College Football Playoff National Championship, all eyes will be on Mason Thrash, senior linebacker of McPherson High School, as he will play in the Blue-Grey All-American bowl tonight at 5 p.m. in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Thrash will wear No. 35 on the Blue team. The senior linebacker hopes to get on the field and make enough highlight tapes as he continues his recruiting trail. So far Thrash has four college offers from McPherson College, Bethany College, Butler County Community College and Dodge City

Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Accepting Applications for 2020 Awards Program

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi—the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society—is currently accepting applications for its 2020 awards program including Fellowships, Study Abroad Grants, Literacy Grants, Love of Learning Awards, Scholar/Artist and Distinguished Service Awards.
