National Weather Service Issues Winter Weather Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for McPherson County from 5 p.m. on Thursday until noon on Friday. The advisory says to expect mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. It will likely cause slick roads, parking lots, and sidewalks. Even a small amount of ice accumulation can create hazardous conditions and could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Bestselling Author to visit the Public Library

On Feb. 27, McPherson will host bestselling author John David Anderson. He will spend the day with local elementary school students and then he will make a presentation to the public at the McPherson Public Library from 6-7 p.m. The library invites readers of all ages to attend Anderson’s presentation, “Searching for Superman: Finding Heroes in Literature and Life.”  His books, written for middle-grade readers, continue to be spotted atop bestseller lists and are popular checkouts at the library. Miller, Goebel Lead Bullpup Bowlers To Victory

Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. WICHITA— The McPherson High School boys bowling team left The Alley with a win on Tuesday night, beating both Goddard High School 2,562-2,286 and Augusta High School 2,562-2,074. The Bullpup boys were led by both Taylor Miller and Tytin Goebel. Miller put up 755 total points after bowling 227-279-249 in his games. Goebel reached 636, setting the tone with 278 and then recorded 187 and 171. The Lady Pups bowled a total of 2,034, finishing ahead of Goddard (2,029) and fell behind Augusta (2,235).
