On Jan. 8, the McPherson USD 418 Visioning Groups met again to begin looking at renovation or new construction options for all district facilities. These groups, composed of a cross-section of community members and educators, divided into small groups to review possible improvements, and work to put together several “package” options for further discussion.
These preliminary proposals included a broad range of suggestions, which DLR Group and Hutton Construction, the district’s facility partners, will work to refine for future conversations. The Board of Education has empowered these teams to consider the future of education in McPherson and make recommendations for their consideration.
“While these are all very tentative solutions, I’ve been impressed with the thoughtful work of these groups. I’m optimistic that we’ll be able to further review all of the options and determine an appropriate and responsible path forward in the coming months,” said Superintendent Gordon Mohn.
Last week’s meeting was the fourth in a series of six intended to develop a facilities plan in anticipation of a future bond issue. More information about the committee make-up, process, and meeting content is available on the district’s website at mcpherson.com, under “Facility Visioning.”
