Physical Altercation At McPherson Middle School Basketball Game

According to a source close to the McPherson Middle School, a physical altercation transpired during a Middle School boys basketball game on Thursday evening. During halftime,  Jay Crawford, head coach of the eighth grade A-team was confronted by a family member of a player. There was physical contact between the two. Both were separated by multiple people. No charges have been filed, and no one was escorted from the venue.  The game continued afterward without any incident. Lady Pups fall to top-ranked Washburn Rural

Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. TOPEKA— Two No. 1 wrestling programs faced off in Topeka. The McPherson High School girls wrestling went on the road to take on Washburn Rural High School, the No. 1 team in Class 6A. Rural ended up victorious, 48-18.  McPherson was without their state qualifying wrestlers, Haley Schafer and Kaleigh Marbut due to injuries. Riley Baker (101), Amethyst Hale (116) and Holli Giddings (155) won their matches by pin. Federal Animal Abuse Law Effectiveness in Question

By Managing Editor Teri L. Hansen The Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture Act signed into law in November looks promising on the surface, however its effectiveness is being questioned. While PACT is intended to ban acts of cruelty on animals, such as burning, crushing, drowning or causing serious bodily harm, it has been labeled as weak in many parts of Kansas. Bulldogs Fall to County Rival Bethany

Quincy Williams The McPherson Women’s basketball team lost to the Bethany College Swedes Wednesday night 62-49. The Bulldogs started slowly and never fully rebounded. The loss moves them to 9-10 on the season and 5-8 in the KCAC. The Bulldogs were outscored 15-7 in the first quarter but outscored the Swedes 16-13 in the second, trailing 23-28 at the half. Bulldogs Extend Win Streak to 6 Beating Swedes, 91-77

Quincy Williams  The McPherson Men’s basketball team defeated the Bethany College Swedes 91-77 Wednesday night. The Bulldogs offensive efficiency and improved defense in the second half carried the game. The Wednesday night win was their sixth in a row. The Bulldogs are 14-5 for the season and 9-4 in KCAC play. The first half was not the Bulldog’s finest hour. They allowed 45 points and only managed 43.
