Lady Pups fall to top-ranked Washburn Rural

TOPEKA— Two No. 1 wrestling programs faced off in Topeka. The McPherson High School girls wrestling went on the road to take on Washburn Rural High School, the No. 1 team in Class 6A. Rural ended up victorious, 48-18.
McPherson was without their state qualifying wrestlers, Haley Schafer and Kaleigh Marbut due to injuries. Riley Baker (101), Amethyst Hale (116) and Holli Giddings (155) won their matches by pin. The Lady Pups will be at Wichita Heights High School next Saturday at 8 a.m.
