Hess Fitness Center at McPherson Hospital is bringing a new “run anytime, run anywhere” 5K concept to McPherson, Feb. 1-15.
Called the Heart of McPherson Virtual 5K, the race format provides an easy way for runners and walkers of all levels to participate in a “race.” Participants can run or walk the 5K anywhere–even on a treadmill. Official times and race completions are “on your honor,” but Strava running app users will be able to “compete” for a top time.
“Virtual 5k’s have been a huge success in other communities, and we’re excited to bring this format to McPherson to bring attention to cardiac rehab and fitness during Heart Health Month in February,” said Race Director Krysti Bergkamp. “It’s also a great goal for people wanting to jump start their fitness routine in the new year.”
Registration is $28 and includes a long sleeve t-shirt for participants who register by January 20. Proceeds will benefit McPherson Hospital’s cardiac rehab and fitness center programs.
