Bullpup Wrestlers Place Sixth In TOC

Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. NEWTON— The McPherson High School wrestling team may not have a first-place winner individually, but out of 33 teams, the Bullpups finished sixth in the Tournament of Champions in Newton over the weekend. Finishing ahead McPherson was Goddard High School, a Class 5A Champion last season, was the top school in the TOC with 213 1/2 points.  Blue Valley Southwest High School finished second with 190, Maize High School had 183 1/2 and both Olathe South High School beat Washburn Rural High School had 159, but Olathe South was ahead by a half. Bulldogs Rout Bluejays, Extend Win Streak to Seven

McPherson College Athletics HILLSBORO —  The McPherson College men’s basketball team won its seventh game in a row, going on the road and defeating the Tabor College Bluejays Saturday, 91-69. For the Bulldogs, Saturday’s win completed the season sweep and was their third win in a row over the Bluejays, who are winless in the KCAC so far this season and gave them back to back wins in Hillsboro. Tough Shooting Night for Bulldogs at Tabor

McPherson College Athletics HILLSBORO — The McPherson College women’s basketball team is still looking for its first win of 2020, falling on the road on Saturday evening to the Tabor College Bluejays 82-51. The Bulldogs could get very little going on the offensive end of the floor, shooting 38 percent from the field for the game and 29 percent from deep. The Bluejays on the other hand seemingly couldn’t miss, knocking down 48 percent of their shot attempts, and going 12 of 26 from the three-point range. Tabor led wire to wire and extending its lead in after each quarter.

The Central Christian Basketball teams lost to Wayland Baptist due to its major flaws that were costly.
