Bishop Carroll High School, Derby High School and Lawrence Free State High School were victorious and will advance to the next round. Veterans Share Memories of Time in Service

Three women shared their stories of service Tuesday evening at the McPherson American Legion Post 24. The presentation was a part of a monthly event held at the Legion known as Veteran’s Story Night, held the third Tuesday of every month. A meal is provided, and each veteran receives two free drinks as well. Obituary: Harold Glenn Schlender

Harold Glenn Schlender, a prolific McPherson homebuilder, and one of the driving forces behind the renovation of the historic McPherson Opera House, passed away early Thursday morning, January 16, 2020, at The Cedars retirement village. The cause of death was complications arising from congestive heart failure. Harold was born on March 21, 1925 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital in Newton, Kansas, and grew up on a farm south of Moundridge.  He was 94 years old at the time of his death. Lady Pups prepare for make-up game at Circle

This Friday, the Lady Pups will face Circle High School as a make-up game after it was postponed. The Circle game was originally scheduled for Jan. 10 but was canceled due to inclement weather. McPherson Police Department officers responded to two incidents of theft in two days. At 12:56 p.m. on Jan 21, officers responded to a business on North Champlin Street. “The complainant reported 14 Televisions, valued at $5,600.00, stolen from the business,” McPherson Police Department Administrative Captain/Public Information Officer Mark Brinck said. “Investigation continues. McKinney Retires After 34 Years

Jana McKinney’s name has been known for decades in the world of McPherson County agriculture. Family and Consumer Sciences County Extension Agent in McPherson, McKinney has helped her fair share of folks in the county. From providing assistance, to coming up with new and innovative ideas for her area, she has been a staple at the McPherson County K-State Research and Extension office. After 34 years of service, McKinney is hanging up her hat and retiring. A retirement reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Jan. 31 at the McPherson County Extension Office, 600 W. Woodside St.
