It was career-night for the Pyle cousins coming off the bench. Eli Pyle was McPherson’s sharpshooter from the three-point as he knocked down five 3s in the first half, only needed a couple more shots to break the school’s and tournament record for most 3s in a game. He led the Bullpups with a career-high 23 points (6 for 8 in three-pointers.)
“Obviously when you have somebody get hot like Eli did, it makes things easier, Head Coach Kurt Kinnamon said. “He really heated up and got on a roll.”
Sam Pyle was also impactful coming on the bench. The senior had a career-high eight points and was 4 for 4 in his free-throws. He also added six rebounds and two blocked shots.
“I thought Sam (Pyle) did a lot of nice things,” Kinnamon said. Sam goes 4 of 4 from the line.”
Kinnamon went deeper into his bench after the Bullpups held the Redskins to only 15 points in the first half. Kinnamon was impressed by the performance by Jayden Dukes, who some significant minutes as he added two points and four assists. Darriene Gibbs had a career-high of four points, which came from making all four of his free throws.
“I was really pleased to see Darriene Gibbs go to the line and go 4 of 4,” Kinnamon said. “I was really happy for him to get them in. “Jayden Dukes had some good moments. That’s really good. That’s the most he’s played.”
