A trial date has been set for Maichael Paul Lara, Jr., 33. After a number of continuances over the past two years, he will been seen in the McPherson County District Court at 9 a.m. on Feb. 28.
On Jan. 8, Lara was booked into the McPherson County Jail after having his bond revoked. The initial charges were filed in Nov. 29, 2017 and include rape and aggravated indecent liberties with a child.
According to court documents Lara is accused of an an incident that took place in January of 2011. Each charge is in regards to a child under the age of 14 at the time. He is represented by Kevin Loeffler and has pleaded not guilty. His trial was originally set for July 9, 2019, however multiple continuances have been filed, by both the State and the defense. A new date has been set for 9 a.m. on Feb. 28.
Lara is being held in lieu of $225,000 for the bond revocation and $500,000 for the charge of rape.
While an arrest occurred, Lara is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The Buzz will provide updates as proceedings continue.
