WAXAHACHIE, TX — The Central Christian College men’s and women’s basketball team suffered another sweep on Thursday to Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
The Lady Tigers fell to SAGU 91-70, dropping them to 5-11 on the season, and 2-7 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Tigers were led by Holly Golden, who scored 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Cheyenne Marshall was the second-leading scorer with 10 points. Kassidy Forsberg added eight points and 14 rebounds. SAGU had a comfortable lead by the end of the first quarter, 24-11 and 47-31 by halftime. The Lady Tigers were held to 11 points in the third quarter, couldn’t catch up ever since.
The men’s team struggled against SAGU as well, a team that is ranked No. 22 nationally. The Tigers managed to keep the game even at 28 apiece at halftime, but would later get outscored 49-32. T.J. Williams and Torrey Henry tied for 15 points. Dominque O’ Connor added 11 points. Darrel Bryant was one point away from a double-double performance but settled for nine points and 12 rebounds. The Tigers fall to 8-9 on the season and 1-8 in SAC conference.
The Tigers are back on the road to face Texas Wesleyan University on Saturday.
