By Sports Editor Peter Holland Jr. The McPherson Middle School boys basketball team competed at Fort Riley on Monday. The eighth-graders completed their season with back-to-back wins. The A team won 75-11 and the B team, 40-27. The Seventh-graders were also victorious with the A team beating Fort Riley 39-7 and the B team 42-14. Bunco Game to Raise Funds for Humane Society

The McPherson County Humane Society is raising funds in a fun way. At 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 29. Bunco players will roll their dice for a good cause. The tournament will be at the First United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Kansas Ave. The entry fee is a free will donation and the event will have concessions as well. The McPherson County Humane Society has been helping the feline friends of McPherson since 1977. The McPherson Opera House stage, was blessed recently with the jazzy, blues sound of the Smoky Valley Bluegrass Band at the venue’s annual Blast of Bluegrass event.
