In response to a growing need for Pulmonology services in south central Kansas, Hutchinson Pulmonology Associates (an entity of Hutchinson Regional Medical Center) has opened an outreach clinic in McPherson as a collaborative venture with McPherson Hospital. The clinic is accepting patients every other Tuesday starting in Suite 301 of Building Two at McPherson Hospital.
Serving McPherson will be Dr. Mohammed Al-Halawani and Dr. Tariq Musa who bring impeccable credentials to their positions.  Al-Halawani is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Medicine. He trained in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and Sleep Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital at Yale University. Musa is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Medicine and trained in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Pulmonology is an area of medicine that focuses on the health of the respiratory system. Specialties included within the new pulmonology practice include state-of-the-art sleep medicine, asthma and pneumonia treatment, COPD care and rehab.

Chuck Welch, Vice President of Business Development for Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System, said the new Pulmonology clinic is a natural fit as the result of a strong relationship with the McPherson community. Currently, Health-E-Quip, a durable medical equipment store and Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County, two entities of Hutch Regional, provide services in McPherson.

Welch adds that there are not enough Pulmonologists to serve the growing need in Kansas and Al-Halawani and Musa will help alleviate that shortage.

Entities within Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System are Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Horizons Mental Health Center, Hospice & HomeCare of Reno County, Health-E-Quip and Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation.
