Central Christian College basketball teams hosted Oklahoma City University on Thursday as both teams were not so successful in beating the Stars.
The Central men, however, were in a similar situation with OCU. The last time the two faced off, the Stars won in overtime, 83-79 in early January. This time, the Tigers lost 76-71. The Tigers were only down by three points in the first half and were just on the verge of stunning OCU, but the Stars wouldn’t let the lead go down the stretch.
Dominque O’Conner was CCC’s top scorer with 21 points as he shot 50 percent from the field. T.J. Williams added 18 points and Torrey Henry had 13 points. The Tigers drop to 9-10 on the season and 2-9 in SAC.
The women had to deal with the No. 1 team in the country as they fall to the Stars, 81-55. After the Lady Tigers were down 39-25 at halftime, OCU put up a dominating third quarter as they outscored CCC 33-15. The Tigers couldn’t find any answer defensively. Tania Lowe, who had 16 points and Zenith Hernandez, who had 13, were the only two to reach double figures for the Tigers. CCC fall to 5-13 on the season, and 2-9 in the conference.
The Tigers will be back on the court Saturday as they host Southwestern Christian University, beginning at 2 pm. for women, and 3:45 p.m. for the boys.
