McPherson Woman’s Benefit for Local Cancer Fighter

McPherson – Virginia Spohn has organized a benefit ride to help cancer fighters who are struggling with their expenses since 2017. This year’s poker ride will take place on April 18, at 10:30 A.M. beginning at the Field House. Last year $13,000 was raised for five people. This year all of the proceeds will be given to one McPherson citizen. There will be a live auction and a raffle, and the organization also accepts donations. Fenton Renwick “Pete” Talbott died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in Greenwich, CT. Born on October 7, 1941, in McPherson, KS to Eldon Isaac Talbott and Laura Helen McKee Talbott. Raised in McPherson KS, he grew up to be the quintessential success story. KDOT announces aviation art contest winners

The Kansas Department of Transportation announces winners of the 2020 Kansas Aviation Art Contest. The contest is designed to challenge young people to use creative expression through art to illustrate the importance of aviation. Artists ages 6-17 were divided in three age categories (junior, intermediate and senior) to create art that celebrates the adventure and excitement of aviation. The theme for this year’s contest was “Flying Yesterday and Tomorrow.” “With over 300 entrants from across the state, it’s obvious the passion for aviation still beats loud in the hearts of Kansas’ young people,” said Bob Brock, KDOT Director of Aviation.

Kelly Gene Peterson, 63, of McPherson, KS, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at his home in McPherson. He was a pipeline welder and had lived in McPherson County most of his life.
