It looked like the Central Christian College women’s basketball team was on the verge of pulling an upset over Southwestern College University after leading down 36-35, but it all faded away in the second half when the Eagles outscored the Lady Tigers 51-32 and it resulted in an 86-68 loss on Saturday.
The Lady Tigers fell to 5-14 on the season and 2-10 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Both Tania Lowe and Holly Golden were the top scorers for the Central women. Lowe led 24 points, while Golden picked up 20 points and eight rebounds. Cieara Carter also reached double figures with 10 points.
The Central men were also not successful against the Eagles as they lost 77-56.
The Tigers had a rough shooting night as they were 25 for 70 from field and 6 for 32 from behind the arc. The Tigers only trailed by 10 points at halftime, but couldn’t catch up in the next half.
Darrell Bryant led with 13 points while Torrey Henry added 12. The Tigers dropped to 9-11, and 2-10 in the SAC conference.
The Tigers will take on John Brown University on Tuesday at home.
