Barbara Maxine Crane
Barbara Maxine Crane, 86, of Gypsum, Kansas, passed away with her family at her side at 12:25 a.m., Sunday, February 9th, 2020 peacefully, at Salina Regional Health Center, Salina, Kansas.
Barbara was born in Denver, Colorado on August 28, 1933, a daughter of Anna Christine (Petersen) and Elbert Eugene Caldwell.
Barbara attended the Fort Logan, Colorado schools and graduated from South Denver High School, Denver, Colorado.
She was a member of Roxbury United Parish Roxbury, Kansas.
Barbara was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Through the years, Barbara worked the Canton Pilot newspaper as a writer for her weekly column, and retired as the secretary to the President at Bethany College, Lindsborg, Kansas.
Barbara enjoyed Bingo, watching tv, sewing, quilting, working on crafts, cooking, baking, reading, was a sports nut and was up on all the latest, and her love of life was spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids.
Barbara M. Caldwell was united in marriage to Les Crane on September 19, 1959. Les died on November 24, 2014.
She is survived by her children, William Crane and wife Cindy, of Roxbury, Kansas, Michael Crane and wife Shelly, of Abilene, Kansas, and Susan Durall and husband Tom, of Roxbury, Kansas; her sister, Mikkie Holding, of Jackson Hole, Wyoming; her 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Anna and Elbert Caldwell; her husband, Les; her two brothers, Jack and Dick Caldwell and a sister, Ellen Caldwell.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 Valley View Cemetery, Roxbury, Kansas, with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.
