KDOT announces aviation art contest winners

The Kansas Department of Transportation announces winners of the 2020 Kansas Aviation Art Contest. The contest is designed to challenge young people to use creative expression through art to illustrate the importance of aviation. Artists ages 6-17 were divided in three age categories (junior, intermediate and senior) to create art that celebrates the adventure and excitement of aviation. The theme for this year’s contest was “Flying Yesterday and Tomorrow.” “With over 300 entrants from across the state, it’s obvious the passion for aviation still beats loud in the hearts of Kansas’ young people,” said Bob Brock, KDOT Director of Aviation.

Obituary: Kelly G. Peterson

Kelly Gene Peterson, 63, of McPherson, KS, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at his home in McPherson. He was a pipeline welder and had lived in McPherson County most of his life. He was born October 17, 1956, in Hutchinson, KS, the son of LeRoy and Audrey (Lackey) Peterson. He graduated from Inman High School in 1974. Survivors include: his son, George Morgan Peterson of McPherson, KS; two sisters, Angela Peterson of Hutchinson, KS and Nattalee Vickers of Wichita, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
