Duane Banman, 92, died quietly surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday morning, March 29, 2020, in McPherson, KS, after slipping away bit by bit for many years due to the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born in McPherson, Kansas on an All Schools Day, Friday, May 13, 1927, to Lina (Webb) and Samuel Banman.  He entered the Navy immediately after graduating from McPherson High School in May 1945, and ultimately served in the Pacific. Student Car Show at McPherson College Cancelled

McPHERSON, KAN. – The annual student-run car show at McPherson College scheduled for May 1-2 has been canceled. Representatives from the C.A.R.S. Club, the student organization that coordinates the event, recently made the announcement. McPherson College announced on March 17 that it would complete the remainder of the spring semester courses remotely following recommendations by national and state health organizations due to the coronavirus situation. “It is very disappointing to us. As you might imagine, it is impossible hosting a student-run event of this magnitude without a full assembly of students on campus,” Chris Paulsen, faculty advisor of the C.A.R.S.

Obituary: Luther “Luke” S. Robinson

Luther “Luke” S. Robinson, 83, of Lindsborg, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2020, surrounded by family at Hospice House, Hutchinson.  Luke was a heavy equipment operator. He worked road construction and did dirt work and dam building. He retired from Malm Construction in 2009. Luke was born on June 29, 1936, in Wilbert, MN, the son of John Wesley and Sophia Emelia (Sylvester) Robinson.  He graduated from Onaga High School in 1954.  He was united in marriage to Shirley Belle Duncan on August 15, 1959, in Duluth, KS. Alan Darrell Hansen, 93, of McPherson, KS, and formerly of South Dakota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, at McPherson Hospital.  He was a mechanical engineer and retired from White Sands Missile Range/Dept. of Defense.
