Canton Township Library recipient of FRS Grant

Home Telephone Company of Galva is pleased to announce that the Canton Township Carnegie Library of Canton, KS  is a 2019 recipient of The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Community Grant Program. The FRS Community Grant Program is offered annually through The Rural Broadband Association NTCA and member companies of NTCA, such as Home Telephone Company.  These grants are designed to provide support to a variety of local efforts to build and sustain a high quality of life in rural America. Home Telephone Company’s customers are eligible to submit grant proposals in the following categories: Business & Economic Development, Community Development, Education and Telecommunications Applications.  This year, FRS awarded $100,000 via 26 grants ranging from $250.00 to $5,000.00, to advance the quality of life and enable economic development in rural America. The grants, coupled with access to broadband-enabled solutions, will improve education offerings, local job markets, the ability to provide telemedicine and first-response emergency services, and more.

The Canton Township Carnegie Library was awarded $5,000.00 to update the almost 100-year-old public library meeting space with AV and modern technology including large flat-panel screen video reception and presentation capabilities for all media sources for community groups.  In addition to receiving grant funds, the library also received a matching donation from Home Telephone Company in the amount of $5,000.00. Home Telephone Company is proud to partner with NTCA, FRS and the Canton Township Carnegie Library with the Grant Program and look forward to seeing the completed project this Summer.
