Obituary- Noleen June Binder


Noleen June Binder, 81, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 6:18 a.m., Friday, March 6th, 2020 suddenly, at her home.

Noleen was born on her parents farm rural Longford, Kansas on June 5, 1938, a daughter of Adeline (Brown) and Torrence  Clark.

Noleen attended Longford grade school, and graduated from Longford High School, Longford, Kansas in 1956.

She was a member of First Christian Church (DOC) McPherson, Kansas, where she served as an Elder and was recognized as an Elder Emeritus.  She served as a Stephen’s Minister.  Noleen through the years served as Choir Director, Bell Choir Director,  member of Ruth Heimer Women’s Group, and was a substitute pianist and organist.

Noleen was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner.  Through the years she gave piano lessons, was a gifted seamstress and did sewing alterations for others, and she was a pianist and organist for several churches throughout her career.

Noleen enjoyed music, church, visiting with people, drinking coffee,  taking care of people, was in prayer groups, spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.

Noleen June Clark was united in marriage to Merle F. Binder on September 18, 1956.  The young couple established their first home together in Clay Center, Kansas.  In 1957, the couple moved to Wichita, Kansas until 1959 when the couple moved back to Longford.  In 1966 the family moved to McPherson, Kansas.  This union was blessed with the birth of four children, three sons and one daughter, Mark, Dan, David, and Ronda.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of over 63 years, Merle Binder, of McPherson, Kansas; her children, Mark Binder and Cindy Crocker, of Garfield, Arkansas, Dan Binder and wife Fay Ann, of Inman, Kansas, David Binder, of Plano, Texas, and Ronda Gilstrap and husband Douglas, of Wichita, Kansas; her sisters, Joan Franklin and husband Bob of Northfield, Minnesota and Wava Burt, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; her seven grandchildren, Chad Binder and Mandie Smith, Justin Binder and wife Taylor, Jessica Smith and husband Ty, Mallory Binder, Natalie Binder, Jason Gilstrap and wife Ashley, and Luke Gilstrap and wife Megan; her five great-grandchildren, Tinley Gilstrap, Tucker Gilstrap, Tess Gilstrap, Oliver Gilstrap, and Shay Smith; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Noleen was preceded in death by her parents, Adeline and Torrence Clark

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the First Christian Church (DOC), McPherson, Kansas.

Funeral service will be held at the First Christian Church (DOC), McPherson, KS, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14th, 2020 with Pastor Lynn Scott and Pastor Mike Miller officiating.

The final resting place will be at the  McPherson Cemetery McPherson, KS.
