Memo from Assistant Superintendent Shiloh Vincent.
MHS Graduation Ceremonies – April 24, 2020 Governor Laura Kelly took extraordinary action on March 17, 2020, closing schools for the remainder of the year to protect the health and safety of our state and our community.
For the Class of 2020, we know this was particularly disappointing news, and we are committed to finding the best possible way to recognize our students for their accomplishments.
As students, families, and staff plan for the remainder of the spring, please find below an update regarding graduation ceremonies:
Graduation Ceremonies MHS Administration met with Senior Class Officers and surveyed the Class of 2020 regarding graduation ceremonies and options for how they want to be recognized. The feedback was overwhelmingly supportive of hosting a traditional ceremony at a later date.
With that input in mind, the following updates are being provided:
• May 16, 2020 (No Graduation Ceremony) MHS will not host graduation ceremonies on May 16, 2020
• August 8, 2020 at 10:00AM (Graduation Ceremony – Tentatively Rescheduled) McPherson High School Graduation Ceremony is tentatively rescheduled for August 8, 2020 at 10:00AM.
• Ever-Changing Conditions & Guidelines Developments related to COVID-19 and its impact on Kansas are ever-changing. Throughout this process, we remain committed to the health and safety of our community. Graduation ceremonies – when they are able to be held – will be conducted under the guidelines provided by Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), McPherson County Health Department (MCHD), Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE), and Governor Kelly’s Office.
