McPherson College Opts for Virtual Commencement

McPHERSON, KAN. – McPherson College will honor the 2020 graduating class with a virtual Commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 24. The college will Livestream the ceremony beginning at 2 p.m. CDT. In an announcement to students, President Michael Schneider explained the decision to transition the traditional ceremony to a virtual event, “There are already too many hardships on students and families given this situation. Families have the current date saved, so we are proceeding with a virtual commencement to allow everyone an opportunity to participate no matter their location.” Students will receive their cap and gown in the mail prior

Dianne Lenora Frank, 61, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 1:00 a.m., Sunday, April 26th, at her home. Dianne was born in Ellinwood, Kansas on October 27, 1958, a daughter of Wilma J. (Hager) and Loren Sylvester Frank. Dianne attended the Ellinwood grade school, and graduated from Canton-Galva High School in 1977 Canton, Kansas. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church Canton, KS. Through the years she worked for several gas stations in McPherson, worked for Mid Tech as a Machine Operator and was a housekeeper. Wilbert Dean Born, 91, of McPherson, KS, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 26, 2020, surrounded by family members at The Cedars Health Care Center, McPherson.  He owned and operated Tidy Laundry. Wilbert was born on February 24, 1929, in Emporia, KS, the son of John E. and Elizabeth Ellen (McCandles) Born.  He graduated from high school in Lebo, Kansas.  Wilbert was united in marriage to Barbara Dean Kitts, and they were blessed with three children, Jeffrey, Michael, and Janet.  On April 20, 1996, Wilbert was married to Marie (Tetrick) Graves in McPherson.  She preceded him in death on
