All School’s Day Virtual Button Hunt

There will be one event for the 107th McPherson County All Schools Day Celebration.

Although the 2020 All Schools Day events were cancelled March 18th due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, the Virtual Button Hunt can still take place and it will begin Wednesday May 6th.

The virtual button hunt, sponsored this year by First Bank Kansas, was started in 2017 in conjunction with the medallion hunt which has been part of All Schools Day for many years. According to Button Hunt chair Lucky Kidd, ASD committee members discussed during April the potential of having this one event take place as scheduled.

“All Schools Day is something a lot of people look forward to,” Kidd said, adding “while it’s not possible for many things to happen this year, this is one thing that can still take place. The Committee is very appreciative of First Bank Kansas for their willingness to sponsor the virtual hunt for 2020.”

In the virtual hunt, participants submit guesses as to the location of the virtual button, with the person submitting the first correct answer winning the $250 cash price. Clues will be posted each day at, and will also available on KBBE 96.7, KXKU 106.1, and The Virtual Hunt will conclude Wednesday May 13th, sooner if found before then.

The “virtual button” location is a public place within McPherson County. This does not include the college campuses or other college-controlled property, nor is it at any of the museums in the County. Guesses on the location are to be e-mailed to buttonhunt@allschoolsday,com.

As in the past, button hunters must purchase a hunting license and an All Schools Day button. The licenses this year will be available online on the ASD website. Buttons can be purchased in the drive-through windows at First Bank Kansas, the main and north locations of Home State Bank/Citizens State Bank in McPerson, and Peoples Bank and Trust in Inman, Lindsborg and McPherson. They are also available at Casey’s and Graber’s Ace Hardware in McPherson.
