Nominate An 8th Grader For The OMEGA Award

Although so many traditional celebrations have been cancelled due to safety concerns during the pandemic, the McPherson Chamber of Commerce will still be honoring 8th grade students for their courage, compassion and service. The Outstanding McPherson Area Eighth Grade Award (OMEGA) is a long standing tradition that coincides with the origin of All Schools Day, to recognize 8th grade students. Each year 8th graders from McPherson County are nominated by their teachers, youth pastors and neighbors for the OMEGA award and are recognized by the McPherson Chamber during May Fete. This year we won’t have a public format to give out the OMEGA awards, but we aren’t going to miss the opportunity to share heart-warming stories of local youth who are making a difference in our community.

Help us celebrate inspirational 8th graders who are making powerful and lasting impacts on all those around them. Have you noticed an 8th grade student who shows compassion to peers in challenging situations or has courageously overcome struggles to help others? The neighbor kiddo who pitches in to help or the young volunteer who graciously shares time and talents to help an organization? How about the one taking the initiative to make positive changes or the role model who is leading by example?

To nominate an 8th grade student in McPherson County who is making a difference by their attitude and actions, please fill out the OMEGA form at www.mcphersonchamber.org by Friday, May 8th. Honorees will be notified and receive their award by mail.
