Obituary: Virginia Louise “Ginny’ Kenney

Virginia Louise “Ginny’ Kenney, 88, of Inman, KS, passed away at 7:01 p.m., Saturday, May 30th, 2020 peacefully, at Pleasant View Home, Kansas.

Virginia was born in McPherson, Kansas on February 21, 1932, a daughter of Emilie (Flegel) and John  Borth.

Virginia attended the McPherson grade school, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas.

She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church McPherson, where she served her church in many capacities and was the last living Charter Member.

Virginia was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner she also worked as the head cook for the Inman School District for many years.

Virginia was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary, McPherson Hospital Auxiliary.  She enjoyed cooking, baking, being outdoors tending to her garden and spending time with her friends and family.

Virginia Louise Borth was united in marriage to Kenneth Donald Kenney on July 2, 1950 at Grace Lutheran Church, McPherson, Kansas.  The young couple established their first home together in McPherson and they were blessed with the birth of three daughters, Susan, Karyn, and Paula.  Kenneth died on December 13, 2005.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Walker, of Kaufman, Texas and Karyn Larson and her husband,  Lyle, of Inman, Kansas; her son-in-law, Randy Premer, of McPherson, Kansas; her 10 grandchildren: Jamie Fernandez-Vinas (Rob), Jessica Peterson, Lynsi  Giles (Josh), Nick Hague, Trevor Larson, Brandi Golemon (Bryan), Aaron Premer (Makenzie),  Roy Walker, Shawn Walker, and Shane Walker; her eight great-grandchildren – Jaylee Giles, Ascher Fernandez-Vinas, Isabel Fernandez-Vinas, Adyson Giles, Jaxzen Giles, Remi Jo Golemon, Kourtney Golemon, and Reghan Premer with one on the way; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, John and Emilie Borth; her husband Kenneth; and a daughter Paula Premer; her brothers, Emil, Harold, John, and Daniel Borth; her sisters, Mary Kruse, Edna Niehage, Wilna Lattin, Trudy Frank, and Ellen Charlsen; a son-in-law, Clyde Walker; and a grandson, Danny Walker.

Graveside service will be held at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 27th, 2020 with Reverend Dale Dumperth officiating.
