Avenue A Bridge Replacement Starts This Week

On Thursday, July 9, the Kansas Department of Transportation will begin replacing the Avenue A bridge over I-135 in McPherson County. The bridge is located approximately one-half mile south of the U.S. 56 exit. A temporary closure on I-135 will tentatively occur overnight on the weekend of July 18 while the bridge is being torn down. Traffic will follow the signed detour through McPherson. During construction, traffic may periodically be reduced to one lane in each direction with minimal delays, not exceeding 5 minutes. Dondlinger and Sons Construction Co. Inc. of Wichita is the primary contractor for this $2.3 million

Obituary: Michael Hultberg

Michael D. Hultberg, 74, formerly of McPherson, KS, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2020, surrounded by family at his home in Newton.  He had been a sales representative for Lacy-Regehr Motors and Reimer Ford in McPherson, and he also assisted his wife, Joyce, with her home-based pet grooming business. He was born November 4, 1945, in McPherson, KS, the son of DeLoss H. and Carolyn R. (Ewy) Hultberg.  He attended the local schools and graduated from McPherson High School in 1963.  He also attended McPherson College and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Pacific Western University.
