With summer officially underway, it’s a great time to get that cleaning done that you didn’t finish during spring cleaning. Before you haul your load to McPherson Area Solid Waste Utility or to the McPherson County Construction and Demolition Landfill, please make sure you secure your load properly.
In summary, Standard Traffic Ordinance, Sec. 179 (a) on Spilling Loads on Highways Prohibited states, No vehicle shall be driven or moved on any highway unless such vehicle is so constructed or loaded as to prevent any of its load from dropping, sifting, leaking or otherwise escaping therefrom. This section does not apply to trailers or semitrailers when hauling livestock; however, these trailers need to be cleaned out periodically.
If you look at the photos we posted with this Traffic Stop Tuesday, it is easy to see the hazards that exist and imagine the damage that could be done if some of the driver’s load in these pictures were to fall out onto the roadway. Please help keep our roadways safe and clean, by properly securing your load before you haul it away.
