The McPherson County Farmer’s Market was in full swing this past Saturday. Vendors were selling everything from Pumpkin Spiced Nut Bread to Malagueta hot peppers. Fresh bierocks, fragrant cinnamon rolls, and smiling faces abounded.
One group of vendors, The McPherson Master Gardeners & Friends, had an array of impressive-looking produce including cucumbers, zucchini, squash, and watermelon. The volunteer-based organization has donated their food to local food banks in the past, however, COVID related relief funds have kept food banks fully stocked. Joyce Cole, a volunteer for the McPherson Master Gardeners & Friends, said “We needed somewhere to sell our produce, and we also wanted a new weed eater.” The organization’s motto is poignant, especially in the current turbulent times, “To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.”.
The McPherson County Farmer’s Market will take place every Saturday until the end of October, at 600 W Woodside, starting at 7:30 A.M. and ending at Noon.
