You Drink. You Drive. You Lose. Campaign Update from Police Department

From August 24 to September 7, 2020 Officers from the McPherson Police Department participated in a the national You Drink. You Drive. You Lose Traffic Enforcement Campaign. The Campaign was funded by KDOT grants, which paid overtime for extra officers to be on the streets enforcing drinking and driving laws.

McPherson Police Officers worked a total of forty-six (46) hours and contacted one hundred and seven (107) motor vehicle drivers and passengers. Officers issued Eighty (80) citations and made two (2) arrests for violations ranging from seatbelt violations to driving under the influence.

The McPherson Police Department asks everyone to think BEFORE choosing to drive after drinking. Please take a moment to consider how it would be to begin every day with the memory of your decision if it resulted in injury or death.  If you are driving impaired, you are not only more likely to crash, but that crash is much more likely to cause serious injury or death.

BEFORE you choose to drink and drive, think about your family, your friends, your coworkers, neighbors.  Just think.

The McPherson Police Department also asks motorists and passengers alike to Always wear your seat belt. Seatbelts are your best defense against impaired drivers. Every trip, every time.  You can count on this department to vigorously enforce impaired driving and other traffic laws, not just during this enforcement campaign but all through the year.
